4 ply, 1/2" CDX plywood is not stocked in SoCal. It had to be
special ordered, and is available only in a full unit of 70
sheets.
2 units, 140 sheets of 4 ply, 1/2", CDX plywood have been used
to form the core material for the bulkheads, floors, sub sole,
etc.
Each bulkhead and floor consists of 2 pieces of plywood, glued
and screwed together with staggered joints, then attached to
the hull with fairing putty covered with glass and finally
glassed on both sides with 2 layers of 24 OZ Bi-Axial glass.
The result is a sandwich consisting of a 1" thick, 8 ply,
plywood core and almost 50 OZ knitted glass skins laminated and
installed with epoxy.
Seven (7) passageways have been cut thru these bulkheads have
their raw edges sealed with a layer of 20 OZ, triaxial glass.
Final trim is planned to be quartersawn white oak.
