The forepeak space is immediately forward of the nav station and
is separated from the nav station by bulkhead 6 that contains an
access passageway.
This bulkhead is water tight until the vessel is approximately
42" below the DWL.
Bulkhead 6 is a full bulkhead that extends fully athwartship.
The forepeak contains two (2) chain lockers. These are formed
by a partial vertical bulkhead that is bonded to the keelson
along the centerline of the vessel.
Again, this bulkhead is formed using plywood core, glass/epoxy
skins.
Each chain locker is capable of storing 400 ft of 1/2" proof
coil galvanized chain which will be stored below the DWL.
A drain grate is provided for each locker to insure the chain is
stored in a dry condition.
A hydraulic windlass and a hydraulic, 8" counter rotating bow
thruster have also been designed into the system.
Provisions for the hydraulic, directional control valves have
been made.
The bow thruster tube is fully installed.
The bow thruster itself will be mounted on top of the bow
thruster tube and will be fully protected by the strum box
walls.
The chain locker has an approximately 36"x36", lift off access
hatch to provide deck access.
This will require a ladder which has not yet been engineered.
An approximately 12"x12"x42" tall, protective strum box has been
built using plywood core with epoxy/glass skins.
This strum allows a Rule 2000 bilge pump to be plumbed as a lift
out device in case it ever clogs or needs to be replaced.
